Sustainable Building Standards at Knowledge University | Knowledge University Campus

Knowledge University is committed to developing a modern, environmentally responsible campus. As part of our sustainability framework—and in alignment with global best practices in energy-efficient construction—all new buildings at the university are designed and constructed using sustainable standards.

Our Commitment

Starting from the year 2024, every new building project at Knowledge University must include sustainability criteria in planning, design, material selection, and construction. This applies to new structures and major renovation projects.

Sustainable Design Practices Include:

  • Energy-efficient LED lighting systems
  • Insulated walls, roofs and glass to reduce energy loss
  • Low-consumption HVAC systems and smart climate control
  • Water-saving fixtures in all new indoor installations
  • Preference for environmentally friendly, low-emission building materials
  • Increased natural daylight, natural ventilation, and heat-control shading systems

Standards & Framework Reference

These requirements follow internationally recognised sustainability principles inspired by the guidelines of the World Green Building Council (WGBC), combined with local construction and municipal development guidelines in the Kurdistan Region.

Oversight & Monitoring

The Facilities & Projects Directorate at Knowledge University ensures that all contractors, designers, and site engineers integrate these standards from concept design to final execution.
