Law College Hosts National Workshop on Iraq’s Personal Status Law

On Saturday, April 19, 2025, the College of Law at Knowledge University held a special event featuring a national workshop titled “The Personal Status Law in Iraq: Legal Reform or Societal Regression?”. The workshop was organized with the presence and support of the college’s dean, department heads, and a number of law faculty members and students. The event aimed to spark academic and public discussion around one of the most debated legal topics in Iraq.

Distinguished legal experts and scholars participated in the panel, including Mr. Hamad Karim, Dr. Mahdi Hamdi, Ms. Hind Abdulamir, and Ms. Halala Sulaiman. Each speaker provided insight into the historical, legal, and societal dimensions of the personal status law, addressing questions of whether proposed changes represent necessary legal evolution or a potential setback for social progress.

The event reflected the university's commitment to promoting legal awareness and encouraging critical dialogue on issues that impact society at large.
