
College of Science Students Participate in Scientific Tour to Erbil Blood Bank

As part of their ongoing academic enrichment, students from the Medical Laboratory Science Department at the College of Science took part in a scientific tour to the Directorate of Blood Bank in Erbil. The educational visit was organized and supervised by Dr. Zhwan Muhammed and Assistant Lecturer Shaymaa Faruq, offering students valuable firsthand insight into the practical aspects of blood banking and transfusion science.
Approximately 75 fourth-stage students, from both Group A and Group B, participated in the tour. During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the key departments of the Blood Bank, observe various laboratory procedures, and engage with professionals in the field to deepen their understanding of blood donation, testing, and storage processes.
The tour served as a bridge between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications, helping future medical laboratory scientists gain practical exposure and prepare for their roles in healthcare services. Such scientific activities are a vital part of the department’s commitment to academic excellence and community health awareness, enhancing the students’ readiness for clinical practice and contributing to the advancement of medical science in the region.
