Petroleum Engineering Department Hosts International Workshop on Waste Management in the Oil and Gas Industry

The Department of Petroleum Engineering at Knowledge University successfully organized an international workshop titled "Waste Management in the Oil and Gas Industry: Innovative Solutions." The event, held in collaboration with several governmental and academic institutions, brought together experts and industry professionals to discuss sustainable and innovative waste management strategies in the energy sector.

The workshop featured prominent speakers, including Dr. Abbas Khaksar, Dr. Shara Kamal, Mr. Muhammad Jamal, Mr. Kewan Jalil, Mr. Muhammad Ali, Eng. Avin Qassim, and Mr. Diyar Yassin. Their insights covered the latest advancements in waste treatment, environmental sustainability, and regulatory frameworks for responsible waste disposal.

The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources, Erbil Polytechnic University, Soran University, Koya University, Koya Technical Institute, Gasha Institute, Hawler Petroleum Institute, and the National Technical Institute (NTI). The panelists emphasized the critical role of research and collaboration in addressing environmental challenges posed by oil and gas operations. Held at the Conference Hall of Knowledge University, the workshop provided a platform for exchanging knowledge, fostering industry-academic partnerships, and exploring cutting-edge solutions for waste reduction and resource optimization.

Dr. Marwan Aziz, Dean of the College of Engineering at Knowledge University, highlighted the significance of such events, stating, “By bringing together experts and stakeholders, we aim to drive meaningful discussions and implement innovative strategies for a more sustainable energy sector.” The event concluded with a Q&A session, allowing participants to engage with experts and explore potential research collaborations.
