Workshop on GIS for City Planning and Development Held at Knowledge University
Erbil, Kurdistan Region
As part of ongoing activities and under a memorandum of understanding, the College of Engineering – Departments of Petroleum and Environmental Engineering at Knowledge University, in coordination with the Erbil Municipality Directorate, organized a specialized workshop titled: “From Data to Decision-Making: GIS for City Planning and Development.”
The event was attended by several guests, including Mr. Dashti Haji Najmaddin (Chairman of the board of Trustees), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Dezaye (President of Knowledge University), Dr. Agrin Abdullah and Dr. Hakim Wlian (Representatives of the Ministry of Construction and Housing), Dr. Ali Rashid (Head of the Erbil Provincial Council), and Eng. Karzan Abdulhadi (Mayor of Erbil). In addition, academic staff, administrative teams, students, as well as local and international guests were present.
The workshop was held under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Marwan Aziz (Dean of the College of Engineering). The program featured two valuable seminars delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Delin Sharafani (Lecturer at Salahaddin University – College of Engineering) and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hunar Alkhayat (Head of the Environmental and Climate Change Monitoring Unit at Salahaddin University Research Center), who provided deep insights into the role of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in modern city planning and sustainable urban development.

تێیدا له‌ژێر چاودێری (پ.ی.د. مه‌روان عه‌زیز - ڕاگری كۆلێژی ئه‌ندازیاری)، هه‌ریه‌كه له به‌ڕێزان (پ.ی.د.دلین شه‌ره‌فانی - مامۆستا له كۆلێژی ئه‌ندازیاری زانكۆی صلاحددین) و (پ.ی.د. هونه‌ر الخیاط - به‌رپرسی به‌شی چاودێری ژینگه و گۆڕانی كه‌شوهه‌وا له سه‌نته‌ری توێژینه‌وه‌ی زانستی زانكۆی صلاحددین) دوو سیمیناری به‌سوودیان له‌باره‌ی بابه‌ته‌كه‌وه خسته‌ڕوو.
