Radiology Technology Students Conduct Valuable Field Visit to Awat Radiotherapy Center in Erbil

As part of the college’s ongoing effort to connect theoretical learning with practical and professional experience, the Department of Radiology Technology at the College of Technology – Knowledge University organized an important educational field visit to the Awat Radiotherapy Center in Erbil on 18/11/2025. The visit included second-year students of the department and was supervised by Dr. Riyadh Saeed Akid, Head of the Department of Radiology Technology.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Dr. Mohammed and Mr. Rebar, who offered detailed explanations throughout the visit. To begin, Mr. Rebar delivered a professional introductory presentation in which he highlighted the essential role of Awat Center in cancer diagnosis and radiotherapy treatment. He also emphasized the professional career paths available to radiography graduates and the importance of their role within modern medical treatment systems.
During the field tour, students visited all major sections of the center and received practical, hands-on demonstrations of advanced radiotherapy technologies, including:
CT Scan Simulation Demonstration of how CT imaging is used to accurately determine tumor location and prepare patients for treatment planning.
Treatment Planning System (TPS) A detailed explanation of how specialists design precise radiation dose distributions and beam directions to target affected areas safely and effectively.
Linear Accelerator (LINAC) Introduction to the operation of this main device used for external beam radiation therapy, along with safety protocols and treatment delivery methods.
Brachytherapy Explanation of internal radiation treatment techniques using small radioactive sources placed close to the tumor site.
Throughout the visit, students gained close exposure to the workflow of modern radiotherapy departments and observed how professionals handle different clinical cases with accuracy and care. This experience significantly enhanced their academic understanding and strengthened their readiness for future professional practice in the healthcare sector.
لە چوارچێوەی بەستنەوەی لایەنی تیۆری خوێندن بە ئەزموونی پراکتیکی و پیشەیی، بەشی تەکنیکەکانی وێنەگرتنی تیشکی لە کۆلێژی تەکنیکی زانکۆی نۆلج لە هەولێر، هەڵسا بە ڕێکخستنی سەردانێکی مەیدانی پڕ بایەخ.

فیرخوازان بە گەرمی لەلایەن بەرێزان دکتۆر محەمەد و مامۆستا ڕێبوارەوە پێشوازیان لێ کرا. لە سەرەتادا، م. ڕێبوار پێشەکییەکی پیشەیی پێشکەش کرد، تێیدا تیشکی خستە سەر ڕۆڵ و کارە گرنگەکانی سەنتەری ئاوات لە چارەسەرکردنی نەخۆشییەکان بە تیشک. هەروەها، بە وردی باسی ئەو بوارە پیشەییانەی کرد کە دەرچووانی بەشی وێنەگرتنی تیشکی دەتوانن لە دوای تەواوکردنی خوێندن، بە شێوەیەکی کاریگەر ڕۆڵی تێدا بگێڕن.
دواتر، قوتابیان بەشێوەیەکی ڕاستەوخۆ و پراکتیکی گەشتێکی بەناو هەموو بەشەکانی سەنتەرەکەدا کرد. م.ریبوار گرنگییەکی تایبەتی دا بە ناساندنی پێشکەوتووترین ئەو ئامێرانەی کە لە بواری چارەسەر بە تیشک (Radiotherapy) بەکاردەهێنرێن، لەوانە:
1. CT Scan Simulation:
ناساندنی چۆنیەتی بەکارهێنانی تیشکی سیتی (CT) بۆ دیاریکردنی وردی شوێنی شێرپەنجە و ئامادەکردنی نەخۆش بۆ پلاندانانی چارەسەر.
2. Treatment Planning system:
ڕوونکردنەوەی تایبەت درا دەربارەی پلاندانانی وردی بڕی و ئاراستەی تیشکدانەکە بۆ ناوچەی تووشبوو بەکاردەهێنرێن.
3. Linear Accelerator (LINAC):
ناساندنی چۆنیەتی کارکردنی ئەم ئامێرە سەرەکییە کە بەکاردێت بۆ دابینکردنی تیشکدانەوەی دەرەکی (External Beam Radiation).
4. چارەسەری ناوەکی (Brachytherapy):
ڕوونکردنەوەی بەکارهێنانی ئامێرەکانی تیشکدانەوەی ناوەکی بۆ چارەسەرکردنی شێرپەنجە بە دانانی سەرچاوەیەکی تیشکی بچووک لە نزیک شانەی تووشبوو.
لە درێژەی سەردانەکەدا، فێرخوازان لە نزیکەوە ئاشنا بوون بە کارپێکردنی ئەم ئامێرە هەستیارانە بۆ چارەسەری نەخۆشی شێرپەنجە و چۆنیەتی مامەڵەکردنی پیشەییانە لەگەڵ حاڵەتە جیاوازەکاندا، کە ئەمەش ئاستی زانینیان بە شێوەیەکی بەرچاو بەرزکردەوە و ئامادەییان بۆ بازاڕی کار زیاتر کرد.
