Training Course on Drinking Water Management Begins at Knowledge University in the Presence of the Governor of Erbil | Knowledge University

Today, Sunday, September 20, 2026, the College of Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering at Knowledge University, launched a training course for engineers working in drinking water management. The course is scheduled to continue for three days.

Mr. Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, attended the first day of the course and was warmly welcomed by the President of Knowledge University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Dezaye. Faculty and staff of the College of Engineering at Knowledge University, along with professors and representatives from UNICEF, HASSAR, the General Directorate of Water and Sewerage in the Kurdistan Region, the Kurdistan Environmental Board, the Erbil Directorate of Environment, and specialized academic experts, also attended the opening of the course.

The training course, entitled “Smart and Integrated Drinking Water Management Training,” is based on the fourth edition of the 2026 World Health Organization (WHO) Guidelines.

The course is delivered by Dr. Kasro Kakl and Dr. Shara Kamal. It aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills in smart and integrated drinking water management, including the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts, as well as revisiting traditional approaches to drinking water management.
