Petroleum Engineering Students Embark on Geological Field Trip to Shaqlawa
Erbil, Kurdistan Region
Second-stage students from the Petroleum Engineering Department at Knowledge University participated in an educational geological field trip to Shaqlawa, a region known for its unique geological formations. The trip was organized under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Diyana Aziz and Lab Assistant Bnar Salar, with the objective of enhancing students' practical understanding of geology as it relates to petroleum engineering.
The students explored the diverse geological features of the Shaqlawa area, studying the stratification and layers of the earth firsthand. They learned how to identify geological layers in the field and interpret their positions on geological maps, an essential skill for petroleum engineers. By observing and mapping the local geology, students gained valuable experience in understanding the earth's structure, which is crucial for resource exploration and environmental assessments.
This hands-on experience aligns with Knowledge University’s mission to offer field-based learning opportunities that bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
