Knowledge University Hosts Workshop on Iraqs General Census Process

The College of Law at Knowledge University recently organized a workshop titled (The General Census Process in Iraq: Its Advantages and Disadvantages). The event, held in the presence of the university president, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Dzeyi, brought together esteemed scholars and policymakers to explore the intricacies of Iraq's national census.
The workshop was spearheaded by Asst. Lect. Rabie Zebari and featured distinguished panelists:
- Rebwar Talabani, Advisor to the Prime Minister, who provided insights on the census's policy implications.
- Sherwan Dubardani, Member of the Iraqi Parliament, who discussed the legislative challenges and opportunities related to the process.
- Mr. Hamad Gardi, a lecturer in the College of Law at Knowledge University, who highlighted the academic and practical dimensions of the census.
The session focused on the benefits and drawbacks of conducting a nationwide census, addressing its importance for planning, resource allocation, and governance. Discussions also tackled the technical, political, and logistical hurdles facing the census implementation in Iraq.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Dzeyi emphasized the significance of such academic initiatives in bridging the gap between research and policymaking. He commended the workshop for fostering dialogue on an issue critical to Iraq's future development. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where attendees engaged with the speakers on various aspects of the census. Participants included faculty members, students, and representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations.
