Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii Immunoglobulin G and Immunoglobulin M Antibodies among Leukemia Patients in Erbil City-Kurdistan Region/Iraq by Enzymelinked Immunosorbent Assay Technique
Abstract
The current study was revealed the seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii immunoglobulin (Ig)G and \r\nIgM among different types of leukemia (Acute lymphocytic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia, Hodgkin \r\nlymphoma [HL], multiple myeloma [MM], non-HL [NHL], and chronic myeloid leukemia) from male and \r\nfemale patients in different age groups (18–≥48 years) using indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent \r\nassay. The results of 140 cases of different types of leukemia showed the highest T. gondii IgG \r\n(44.44%) among MM leukemia whereas T. gondii IgM highest (12.5%) among NHL leukemia. Significant \r\n(P ≤ 0.01) differences between T. gondii antibodies and age group were recorded, that increased with \r\nthe age of Leukemia patients. Hence, it could be concluded that multiple myeloid leukemia is strong \r\nimmunocompromised and high significant (P ≤ 0.01) with toxoplasmosis.
