
Exploring Collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources
On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, the President of Knowledge University, Prof. Dr. Kayhan Zrar Ghafoor, led a high-level delegation to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources to foster collaboration and discuss joint initiatives aimed at addressing climate change challenges. The delegation included Prof. Dr. Talib Khalil Ibrahim, Vice President for Scientific Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marwan Aziz Mohammad, Dean of the College of Engineering; and Dr. Anwar Omar Qadir, Head of the Law Department.
The Knowledge University delegation was warmly received by Dr. Begard Talabany, the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, along with the dedicated staff of the ministry. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and building stronger ties between the Ministry and the University. A key agenda item involved detailed discussions on the organization of a joint scientific symposium, aligning with the recommendations from the recent Climate Change Summit (COP 28). The summit's outcomes provided a crucial framework for both entities to collaborate on strategies to combat climate change effectively.
The participants emphasized the urgency of integrating their collective resources, knowledge, and capabilities to expedite efforts aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change. The discussions highlighted the need for swift action to safeguard water security, food security, agriculture, and the environment in the Kurdistan Region. Both parties expressed their commitment to a collaborative approach, recognizing the significance of a united front in the face of climate change challenges. The anticipated joint scientific symposium is expected to be a pivotal platform for exchanging ideas, research findings, and innovative solutions that will contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future for the region.
